Choosing Social Platforms
Choosing the Right Social Media
For The CMC Workshop, I signed up for almost every social media platform: Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, and more. Although I want to claim my brand name on every platform (which I’m still in the process of doing), I quickly realized that being active everywhere could slow me down and dilute my content. While I have accounts on all these platforms, I won’t be actively engaging on all of them.
Being everywhere is not the same as being effective. My goal is to connect, engage, and build meaningful relationships with other creatives. That means I need to choose platforms strategically.
Why I’m Focusing
Limiting my focus helps me:
- Create better content without getting overwhelmed
- Engage consistently with people who care about what I share
- Learn what works before trying to scale
- Avoid the stress of juggling too many accounts
I’ve learned that quality beats quantity every time.
My Content Approach
For now, I’m focusing on the platforms that I am familiar with, and where I can reach other creatives effectively. My strategy is:
- Educational and inspiring content: Share insights on creativity, design, marketing, and collaboration
- Behind-the-scenes process: Show experiments, making, and thought processes to build authenticity
- Community engagement: Connect, ask questions, and highlight collaboration opportunities
- Selective cross-posting: Share high-value content on other platforms instead of spreading myself thin
Focusing this way lets me create thoughtful content, engage genuinely, and grow the brand without burning out.
Bottom Line
Choosing a few channels, posting consistently, and creating meaningful content is far more powerful. This approach will help The CMC Workshop build a creative community, engage other makers, and grow sustainably from the start.
