Notion: Workflow and Planning

Why I’m Using Notion to Build The CMC Workshop

I wanted to share an update on building The CMC Workshop and why I’m leaning into Notion. I needed a plan / workflow to turn ideas into action. A workflow is the step-by-step process that moves a project from start to finish. Notion is perfect for this because it keeps everything in one place: tasks, ideas, notes, and schedules. It helps me stay organized, see what needs to happen next, and keep my creativity flowing without feeling overwhelmed.

What is Notion?

Notion is an all-in-one workspace for notes, tasks, projects, and planning. It’s flexible, visual, and easy to adapt, making it ideal for a creative project like The CMC Workshop. There is a slight learning curve, but once you figure out the basics, you’re good to go.

Why I Chose Notion

I wanted one tool that could handle everything:

  • Brainstorming ideas: Capture quotes, blog topics, and social media prompts as soon as inspiration strikes.
  • Planning content: Map out posts, schedule them visually, and track progress from draft to posted.
  • Managing tasks: See what needs to get done each day or week without feeling overwhelmed.
  • Storing resources: Keep Canva templates, research, and inspiration boards organized.

The goal isn’t to complicate things. It’s to create space for creativity while keeping practical steps clear.

How I’m Using Notion

  • Dashboard: My hub for today’s tasks, upcoming posts, and priority projects.
  • Content Calendar: Tracks posts, blogs, or ideas with columns for platform, type, caption, and status.
  • Ideas Page: A place for every spark of inspiration, from quotes to collaborations to mini-projects.
  • Tasks & Workflow: Kanban board to track to-do, in progress, and completed items.
  • Resources & Tools: Library for links, templates, and other resources to support content creation.

Why This Helps

Using Notion lets me focus on creating and sharing instead of getting lost in logistics. Even in the early stages it helps me:

  • Keep all ideas in one place
  • Stay consistent with posting and content creation
  • Track progress and celebrate small wins
  • Prepare for future collaborations and projects
